In order to be able to send to or receive information from a UPS over a network, the UPS must be connected to the network first.
This can be achieved directly or indirectly.
Indirect Connection
 |
- This solution is the most cost effective
- The UPS uses the resources of a computer system which is connected to the network via a Network Interface Card
- The UPS is connected to a computer (or server) via serial link (RS 232) or USB.
- The UPS uses the computer network connection: the end user has to install our Network Management Proxy.
|
Direct Connection
The UPS can also be directly connected to the network through our NMC card (Evolution, Pulsar/M/MX and Comet EX RT) which acts as Network Interface Cards.

Benefits of Direct Network Connection
- The UPS has its own IP address
- The UPS can be reached even though the server is down
- This solution is required for critical applications
